RESIDENTS have begun to move into a new 22-bed dementia care wing at Swaffham's Paddocks Care Home.
The manager of the wing, Mrs Mary Ann Bushnall, and the home's residential care manager, Mrs Margaret Hasler, have also gained Level 4 NVQs in health and social care.

The Paddocks registered care manager, Elizabeth Keys, was pleased to see the growth and improvement in the home's facilities. "There is a great need for the new wing. There is increasing need for dementia care across the whole country," she said.

With the new development, the number of beds at the home had risen to 100. Some existing residents had already transferred to the new wing. Others would be moving in during coming weeks.

Mrs Keys said. "We have certainly made the environment pleasing for the residents." Special features included different coloured bedroom doors and yellow doors on all the bathrooms.

To help stimulate residents, crafts, quizzes, exercises and bingos would be arranged.

Staff at the home are working to improve their qualifications. Mrs Keys said: "Last year, nine employees gained their NVQ Level 2 in health and social care and many are now doing their NVQ Level 3."
