Photo focus for BreckFest

THIS year's Breckland Photography Competition forms part of BreckFest, a districtwide festival of sport, leisure and culture being held this summer and linked to the Olympic Games.
The photography competition started on Monday, with two categories for adults and one for under-16s, and a deadline for entries of Friday, August 29.
No theme has been set for the young people's category, which requires "any good lively picture". Adults have "Recognisable Breckland", with a shot clearly illustrating a unique aspect of the district, and a sports or arts photograph.
To help budding photographers prepare, a free photography training workshop is being held at Swaffham Community Centre tomorrow, from 1pm to 5pm. Places can be booked with Iceni Partnership manager Dennis Tallon on 01760 722800.
Each entry to the competition should be on A4 photopaper accompanied by an entry form which can be collected from the community centre in Campingland. The photographer's name, age (if under 16) and the category and title of the photo should be on the reverse side.
Entries can be submitted to the Iceni Partnership at Swaffham Community Centre. Final judging and a presentation evening will take place in the week beginning September 15.
Area winners will be awarded a certificate and overall winners will get prizes sponsored by Breckland Council. An exhibition of the photographs will be held at Swaffham Community Centre from Tuesday to Monday, September 23 to 29.
BreckFest takes place from Sunday, August 24, to Sunday, September 14, to mark the handover of the Olympic Games from Beijing to London and the close of the Paralympics Games 2008.
The main event will be a music festival at Attleborough Recreation Ground on Saturday, September 13, featuring rock 'n' roll stars Showaddywaddy, rock legend Suzi Quatro and soul band Hot Chocolate.
Full details are available on www.breckfest.co.uk – and brochures will be delivered in Breckland next month.
