THE last of this summer's Breckland Christian Fellowship Family Fun Afternoons on Sundays attracted about 250 people to Swaffham Recreation Ground.
Organisers were left worrying when it rained during the morning, but then it turned sunny and the ground dried quickly enabling the event to go ahead as planned.

An inflatable bouncy castle for adults and a giant inflatable slide for children were supplied, and there were games such as Splat the Rat, hammer the nail into a piece of wood and a children's highest scoring bean bag-throwing event.

Races were enjoyed by all ages and the dads' race was particularly hotly contested, with David Sadler emerging the winner. There were also egg-and-spoon, sack and toddlers' races and a family relay race.

Hot dogs and burgers were provided from a barbecue and there were also other refreshments available, all for free.

Pastor Graham Chittock, from Swaffham's Oasis Centre in Cley Road, said: "We were really pleased with the way it turned out. We were a bit concerned about the weather, but we prayed and the weather changed completely in the afternoon.

"We had lots of positive feedback from people saying they had enjoyed themselves."

The Recreation Ground event followed successful family fun afternoons in Castle Acre and on Swaffham's Orford Road Playing Field, which also attracted big turnouts.

On Sunday at 10am, the fellowship is holding a Church Without Walls event, with live music, action and testimonies, at the Buttercross in Swaffham Market Place. Free bacon and sausage baps, and tea and coffee, will be provided.
