SWAFFHAM Town Council's offices are closed to visitors this week and next week for minor access improvements and alterations to office layouts.
Narborough-based Veltshaw Builders is carrying out the £11,325 project, which involves reorganising office space, installing three new windows at the Cley Road end of the Town Hall and alterations to the lift door.

Town clerk Richard Bishop told last week's town council meeting that public access from the Cley Road entrance would be closed during the work, but contact was still possible by appointment as the office would temporarily move to the council chamber on the first floor.

Breckland Council and the registrar's offices have been relocated in the building and can be accessed from the London Street entrance, but Age Concern will not be running its office over the fortnight.

Mr Bishop said: "We are trying to use this period of time to sort out files and catch up with training and a backlog of work that has built up."

He said the three new windows would provide natural daylight and improve fresh air ventilation in some of the offices.
