EIGHT local charities and fundraising groups were represented at a garden fete held at the home of Swaffham woman Iris Reeve on Saturday.
Mrs Reeve, of London Street, made her garden available as the venue for the four-hour fete after running a similar event for Children with Leukaemia and a cancer unit at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital about 18 months ago.

Children with Leukaemia took part in Saturday's fete along with the Friends of Swaffham Museum, the Royal British Legion women's section, the RNLI, Swaffham and District Swimming Pool Association, Swaffham Community Hospital's League of Friends, the local Pensioners' Association and Swaffham Lioness Club.

Mrs Reeve, who is a Swaffham Lioness, local RNLI souvenir secretary and Legion branch treasurer, said a total of £507 was raised on the day through raffles, tombolas and sale of bric-a-brac and souvenirs.

"All charities are struggling for money so I offered them the chance to put up their tables free of charge, instead of renting a hall, and keep whatever they made," she explained.

"The weather was beautiful but we clashed with other events going on the same day and that kept the numbers down."
