Am I in hiding, fearful after last week's attack on Turbine protesters? No, I've just taken a few days off and today will be found on the far side of the county practising for the 48th annual Three Rivers Race, which takes place this weekend.
It's only the second time that I've entered this sailing race on the Broads, and not having an especially fast boat, I am relying on a good handicap to stand any chance. Nevertheless, I hope to finish just inside the 24-hour time limit for the course.
During the race I won't be allowed to use my electric outboard motor, powered by a battery that is charged by a solar panel. I mention it to show off my green credentials. So is it really me being green that makes me stay in Norfolk for my holiday?
I was turning all this over in my mind while looking again at that list of business types I was sent by the Iceni Partnership back in March. It showed just one travel agent in Swaffham. Although not all a travel agent's work is arranging to jet people halfway round the world for their holiday a lot is. Such holidays are not very green, of course.
However, there is only one in town, so perhaps as a breed Swaffham folk tend to greenness.
That made me think back to when my parents moved, almost 40 years ago, from Sussex to the far side of Norfolk. Time and again they asked the locals where they spent their holiday and got the answer Yarmouth or Cromer.
It certainly wasn't greenness that made them holiday here; it was probably cost.
As for me, I let my passport lapse more than 30 years ago, so don't take foreign holidays. Have I finally gone native?
