There's still the chance that you'll read this in time to get along to the coffee morning at the Assembly Rooms.
The Swaffham branch of Macmillan Cancer Support is holding one tomorrow from 9am until midday at the Assembly Rooms.
Yes, I know I mentioned it last week, but mentioning it again serves as a reminder to others that if you get early enough notification to me (swaffham news@yahoo.co.uk) of your events, then I'm more likely to mention them!
- After last week's mention of the circulating arms on the signpost by the Job Centre, this week I discovered that the one by the Buttercross is no better at holding its arms in the right direction – and that one doesn't mention the toilets.
- It's been announced that the TV's "Kingdom" is to return for a third series with filming once again taking place later in the year. I bet that's a great relief to those planning to put a beach on the Market Square over the August Bank Holiday. Shipping in the sand necessary to create a beach in Market Shipborough makes rather more sense than putting one in Swaffham.
One friend of mine, with no special connections with the area, said his family had stopped watching Kingdom because the story lines were too far-fetched. (He said the same of Doc Martin, too!).
I had been worrying that too many people might be feeling that way and the show wouldn't get the go ahead for the third series.
I'm not sure that being far-fetched matters for that kind of light-hearted Sunday evening viewing.
Secretly we know its all "normal for Norfolk" and not far-fetched at all. We can just pretend all that worries us is whether you have to turn left or right at the Market Shipborough sign to find the beach.
With luck, by the time they come back to do the filming, we'll have forgotten about all the rain we had earlier in the year and that chilly Easter.
With summer time back again, I'm just looking forward to seeing the flower baskets round the lampposts and wondering if we could get Kingdom's production company to pay for them this year.
We could convince them they are needed in the show and they could water them with leftovers from the next flood scene they film.
