EXASPERATED parish councillors are to write their MP and the highways department to try to get something done about road safety issues in Terrington St John.
Parish councillors have discussed with police community support officers the hedge at the top of Old Church Road. Cars have to pull out too far and nothing seems to be done about this. Also they are worried about the lack of double yellow lines on the junction of Main Road/Old Church Road and School Road.

The clerk is to write to the highways department and North West Norfolk MP Mr Henry Bellingham.

The February meeting of Terrington St John Parish Council was held at the primary school.

With regard to the street lighting, the chairman, Mrs Pam Hardy, reported that she had phoned the street lighting contractors to get them to repair the lights that are out as soon as possible.

The play area light has now been turned to face the entrance. One light in Old Church Road still needs to be fixed.

Regarding the mole hills, it was reported that the cost to get rid of them would be £40 cash, and this was agreed by members.

The chairman reported that a meeting had been held regarding the play equipment in the village with Mr Neil Grommet to discuss the play area equipment. The area is to be used by children under 12.

Mrs Jenny Williams is organising another meeting so the village can discuss what equipment should be put on the play area.

With regard to the trees at Stud Farm, the clerk stated that the tree preservation officer had advised that the owners were treating the trees correctly, and that they have permission to cut down a tree near the entrance, as it is rotten.

The members discussed this matter and agreed that the trees should not be touched anymore. Mrs Hardy will be contacting the tree preservation officer.

The clerk reported that the police are able to issue a parking ticket to anyone parking too close to a junction. A PCSO can talk to the owners, but not issue a ticket.

Members discussed the height of the fence at the front of Alpine House, and the clerk is to report to planning.

Regarding the signs at the end of the A47 Flyover Bridge, the sign owners have now been requested to remove signs or seek planning permission to retain them. The clerk is to report signs on Church Road.

The dog fouling problem has been reported, and the dog warden intends to visit the area, as he has also had complaints from residents.

Mr Fuller intends to paint the seat near the village sign this month if the weather remains good. On the subject of members' matters, someone reported that lorries have messed up the verge on School Road. The clerk is to report this.

The members are still considering who should be the William Day Centre representative.

The PCSOs explained that there are now seven full-time PCSOs on the Terrington team. They gave a report on the number of crimes reported since December.

They handed out details of contact telephone numbers.
