DOG owners are being warned again that allowing their pets to foul the play area could land them a £1,000 fine.
Great concern was expressed over the issue at last month's parish council meeting.
The council emphasised the need for this area to be kept clean, and not letting dogs run free. There are plenty of dog bins in and around the parish, and use must be made of them.
There was a number of members of the public present who were very concerned with a planning proposal at Laurel Bank. Concern was felt on many different counts: Loss of valuable village allotments, access routes and the impact on the village.
Parish chairman Cllr Rawlings gave his annual report on the activities of the parish council. With a busy year over he thanked all the councillors and looked forward to the challenges of the coming year.
Cllr Rawlings was voted as chairman, with Cllr Funnell as vice-chairman.
A comment had been received from a young mother who was finding it difficult to negotiate the bollards on entering the play area. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents will be doing its annual inspection, and has been asked for guidance on how this entrance could be improved.
Replacing the village sign was discussed further. It was generally felt that a new sign should not be different to the original one. It will be discussed at the next meeting which material would be the best to use.
The telephone boxes in the parish are under threat once again. The parish council feels they are an amenity for the village and should stay.
It was reported that the Foolhardy Circus is coming to St Germans football field on Wednesday. This will be the third visit, and it appears to be very popular.
Also a roadshow, organised by West Norfolk Council and the Environment Agency, is coming to the village on Wednesday, July 30. This will be giving information on flood warnings and should be very interesting.
The parish council next meets on Monday, July 21, at 7.30pm.
