St Germans WI – The June meeting of St Germans WI was held in the Memorial Hall with Florence Bush presiding.
The minutes were read and the treasurer gave her report.Florence thanked the ladies who put a floral arrangement in St German's church, representing the WI. A letter was read from the church committee thanking them too.

The Fenland Group meeting was held at the Memorial Hall as St Germans were hostesses this year. Mr Cushing from Thursford gave a talk.

Members were reminded that calendars and diaries for 2009 need to be ordered. Names were taken from those wishing to go to Southery to the autumn annual meeting. An invitation to Watlington's 41st birthday party on Tuesday, August 12, was read out.

Birthday gifts were given to Betty Green, June Stubbert and Ann Snow, with belated ones for Diane Denham and Jill Taylor. Carolyn Cast was presented with a voucher for competition points.

Mr Alan Durand gave an interesting talk, with slides, on the "odd corners of East Anglia". He was thanked by Florence Bush. Refreshments were provided and served by Yvonne Turrell and Jean Lawless, helpers were Ann Snow and Marion Vincent.

The raffle prize given by Valerie Reynolds and Valerie Ramsbottom was won by Iris Claxton and Moya Cosgrove.

The competition for a photo taken in Norfolk was won by Jean Fisher, 2 Diane Winter, 3 Carolyn Cast. Names were taken from ladies offering to make fruit tarts for the August meeting.

The next meeting will be held next Tuesday. The speaker will be Adrian Osborne on "night of neckties".

Tombola – The fortnightly tombola and club draw was held in the Memorial Hall for hall funds. Winners each received £10 and were: No 141 R. Press, No 50 M. Williamson, No 11 A. Wakefield, No 162 T. Gray, No 85 Craig and Becky, and No 143 K. Paget. Helpers were: B. Kent, D. Overson, J. Miller, D. Wright, R. Bridges and R. Storf. Caller was D. Bunkall.
