VILLAGERS have expressed a renewed interest in running their own allotments following an advert in the parish magazine.
The annual parish assembly was told that the council hoped the Anchor publicity would encourage people to take advantage of available land to grow vegetables. Two sizes of plot are available: A quarter acre and an eighth of an acre.

The council decided it should set aside a period at the beginning of each council meeting, for parishioners to bring any problems or suggestions.

Two groups of parishioners have been working on behalf of the council on fundraising to improve the facilities on the Memorial Field. One has led to the enlarging of the tennis pavilion and refurbishment of the courts, and the other towards rebuilding of the main pavilion, the majority of the cost for which has now been promised.

The new fencing along Churchgateway has been completed with the help of a grant from Waste Recycling Environmental, and the council is now looking to replace the fencing between the field and the cricket field.

The council made the usual donations to the two churchyards, and to a number of local or county causes. The projected affordable housing is going through the consultation process.

One of the parish councillors has offered to renew the village website.

Problems were experienced during the summer and autumn with regard to litter, vandalism and antisocial behaviour at the field and car parking area. At the recycling area, there have been regular incidents of fly-tipping of garden and household waste.

The chairman mentioned the considerable contribution made by the clerk to the village.

It was reported that the village fair will take place this year, but it is hoped to revive it in an altered form next year.

A request was made for a bus shelter in the village centre. Concern was expressed at the planning application for Church Farmhouse. A request was made for a dog waste bin at the Millennium Wood.
