HEADTEACHER Mark Oldridge led by example when he volunteered to have tins of baked beans poured over him for Comic Relief.
Clenchwarton Primary School raised around £250 with a variety of activities, but the highlight was undoubtedly dousing Mr Oldridge while he sat in a tin bath.
The School Council, which has 16 members representing all age groups, came up with the messy idea, but their "victim" was kept secret even from them until the big day itself on Friday.
Parents provided some tins of beans and Premier Foods also donated some catering-sized tins to really get the job done.
Mrs Debbie Bloodworth, a higher level teaching assistant at the Main Road School, said: "Mr Oldridge was absolutely brilliant, it was really funny. He was freezing and by the end the bath was full. He was such a good sport."
The children also paid 50p to wear red for the day and parents made cakes which were judged and then sold at the end of the day.
An activity book put together and sold by the school council also proved a hit, further boosting the total raised.
