DESPITE terrible conditions, fundraisers got on their bikes at the weekend to net as much money for charity as possible.
Around 120 people, young and old alike, gave pedal-power a go for this year's Big C cycle ride at Holkham Hall Estate.

Individuals could do as many six-mile laps of the estate as they wanted, said Mrs Sharon Hulbert, marketing and communications manager for Big C, Norfolk and Waveney's own cancer charity.

"Some people did more than ten laps," said Mrs Hulbert. "People set themselves a target and were determined to do it, despite the wet conditions."

It is hoped more than £7,000 will have been raised to help improve cancer treatment, support and care facilities locally.

Although Norwich based, the charity has provided £150,000 for a digital mammography unit at Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the past.

An on-going research fund at the University of East Anglia will also be helped.
