Residents of Freebridge Sheltered Housing in North Lynn have been putting their green fingers to the test in a gardening competition organised by the association.
Sheila Husband and her neighbours pulled together to create a horticultural nautical masterpiece as their gardening competition entry. Mrs Husband has macular degeneration, a sight impairment, which meant that she struggled to put the piece together on her own.
However, determination and a love of gardening saw the scene flourish, with many residents helping out by donating materials, growing the plants and building the boat between them. Mrs Husband said: “I have always loved arts and crafts and I really enjoyed the challenge.”
The annual competition has been won by Mrs Husband and her crew for the past four years. The competition results will be announced next month.
