Fresh from the West End and guaranteed to get you dancing, the most successful rock and roll show of all time is at Lynn’s Corn Exchange until tomorrow night.
Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story is celebrating the show’s 25th anniversary with a nine-month tour around the UK, bringing the original musical phenomenon to a theatre near you.
Buddy star, Glen Joseph, said: “We’ve played at Norwich before, but never King’s Lynn. I’m really excited to bring the show to a new venue and a new crowd. It’s a show that appeals to so many people who love the music because it is such a seminal story.
The story is so integral to music today and his impact on the world is phenomenal for such a short career.”
Loved by critics and audiences alike, Buddy tells the enduring tale of the musical icon’s meteoric rise to fame and his final legendary performance at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, before his tragic and untimely death at the age of 22.
Together, the multi-talented cast present a terrific two hours of music with over 20 of his greatest hits, including the timeless classics That’ll Be The Day, Peggy Sue, Oh Boy and Rave On. With the Big Bopper’s Chantilly Lace and Ritchie Valens’ La Bamba completing a stellar musical line-up, Buddy is an evening of family entertainment that is not to be missed.
Seen by over two million fans since it opened in London’s West End, Buddy continues to have audiences from age eight to 80 dancing in the aisles of theatres across the globe.
Buddy’s widow, Maria Elena Holly, said: “When we opened the show, we never imagined Buddy’s music and story would still be rocking stages and entertaining audiences around the world 25 years later. It’s incredible to witness subsequent generations getting carried away in Buddy’s music - proof that his spirit lives on through all of us.”
