So you would like to know more about some of the wild women from Norfolk?

Well look in at the tour this month of the new Room at the Gin Productions presentation “Spoken Word, Spooky Folk and Wild (Norfolk) Women”.

And it all starts at the Gin Trap Inn at Ringstead next Thursday, April 10, at 7.30pm (£6).

Sedgeford author and performer Gareth Calway will provide the spoken word and spooky folk, joined by the Familiars duo of Joanna Swan and Tom Conway (guitar).

Calway says: “The show celebrates women who defied empires; gave their hearts to poets and lost their heads to kings; endured the ducking stool; confronted a corrupt education system and, in the case of burgess’s wife turned visionary Margery Kempe of Lynn, challenged the entire basis of mediaeval society.

“Oh! and we give some ‘witches’ the chance to put their side of the story too.”

The April tour of Icenia continues at Marriott’s Warehouse in Lynn next Friday, April 11 at 7.30pm (£7.50); then moves on to Gt Massingham Social Club on Easter Monday, April 21 at 7.30pm (£6).

There are two gigs on Thursday, April 24: Anteros Music Room in Norwich at 1pm (£5), then Oliver Cromwell House in Ely at 7.30pm (£7.50). The final show is on Sunday, April 27 (7.30pm) at The Bicycle Shop, Norwich (£7.50).
