West Norfolk’s Battle of the Bands competition is set to return tomorrow night bigger and better than ever with the first round of acoustic acts set to perform in a Terrington pub.

The King William will host the first free event, organised by KL.FM and Twisted Melon Promotions, and all ages are welcome to go along and cheer on their favourites.

Triston Finnis, of Twisted Melon Promotions, said: “I’m really excited about 2014’s event with loads of new acts entering plus a few old favourites too.

“There’s no better way for a local band to gain exposure with a packed venue to perform too and the chance of radio airplay on KL.FM.”

The four acts are competing for the chance to perform on the final night of Festival Too. Will B, Dion Gunn, Sally Ann Pottle and Ciaran Liam’s Useless Homeless Shelter will perform in front of the judging panel, with the winner from each heat progressing to the live, on air, semi-final hosted by KL.FM Breakfast Show’s Adam Newstead.

Triston added: “Last year’s semi-final voting opened during the live show and ran for three days, during which over 24,000 people viewed and voted. There’s also a few special faces to look out for on the judging panel.

Listeners will vote for their top three acts, with the judging panel choosing the other three to perform at the final. The winner will also win recording time, a photo shoot, band merchandise, and slots at other music events including the Peterborough Willow Festival.

Triston said: “This year we’re giving a few out-of- town venues a chance to host heats as well as the usual town centre venues starting with the King William.”

Heat One performances start at 8pm tomorrow night and will be followed by Heat Two next Friday at Lynn’s Maids Head.
