Oldskool on the menu at King’s Lynn’s Maids Head

Music fans in Lynn will be treated to a special night of Oldskool this weekend when three huge bands play alongside members of cult acts including Vanilla Pod, Rebelation and Faintest Idea.

Twisted Melon Promotions and Poets On Pay Day have organised this huge gig at Lynn’s Maid’s Head and are expecting to bring the town together for one fantastic night.

Playing the event are Bear Trade, a punk band based in Sunderland made up of four musicians who have, and still do, play in lots of other bands.

The band said: “We’ve all been around the block, more than we care to remember, but try to remain positive. We’re just some men with a love of the punk and the rock and the beers and the gigs and the just having fun. The songs we make together are the result of this beautiful alliance.”

Local musicians Black Block have been unleashed once more after a three-year hiatus, featuring Tony, Mutley and Alex of Rebelation and Steve from Vanilla Pod.

The band said: “Think The Ruts mixed with Alkaline Trio and topped off with a a bit of Fuel - not the metal band.”

The night is rounded off with a huge performance from Old Coyote Club, a band that formed in Norfolk during mid-2013 after evolving from a solo acoustic project to a full band influenced by punk/folk and country. Recorded and mixed internally, the band plan to release and tour their debut EP, featuring Hustle Roses and Medicine, in mid 2014 with a new release penned for the end of the year.

The band said: “So here it is, your first chance to catch Old Coyote Club in action. We’re playing with two excellent bands Bear Trade and Black Block so it looks like it should be rammed. Be there or be square.”

The event is at The Maids Head from 7pm tomorrow and entry is free.
