The string-playing members of the West Norfolk Jubilee Youth Orchestra travelled to Birmingham to play in the National Festival of Music for Youth.
This is a national festival with groups travelling from all over the country to take part.
The invitation to play came after the group had entered for the Regional Festival for the first time in March. The two adjudicators, including Alison Walker, herself a former player in WNJYO, thought that the potential of the group should be rewarded.
Orchestra players – some pictured above – are drawn from five different schools across West Norfolk and play a range of musical styles from Vivaldi’s four seasons to a medley of tunes from the Harry Potter movies. For their performance in Birmingham the orchestra aged 11-15, played Boyce’s Symphony No. 4.
