A magnificent total of £2,982 was raised for charity during the recent stage presentation of The Mikado by the West Norfolk Gilbert and Sullivan Society.

Bucket collections after the performances at Lynn Arts Centre raised £1,078, which would suggest the audiences really enjoyed the show, while the total amount handed to the charities by the sponsors on stage, was a heart-warming £1,907.

Over the last four years WNG&S Society has been putting a group of businesses together with local charities. The businesses sponsor the performances and also donate a cheque to their chosen charities at their designated performance – and the total given stands at an impressive £12,433.

The society is grateful to the businesses involved, namely PIL Membranes, Hayes and Storr Solicitors, Fenton Insurance, The Mortgage Bureau and Hayhow and Co; the charities to benefit were East Anglian Air Ambulance, Tapping House Hospice, Age UK Norfolk, The Alzheimer’s Society and Macmillan Cancer Support.
