The annual Hilgay raft races have been postponed until Sunday, August 21 due to flooding.

Butcher Alistair Dent, who organises the event alongside Downham Rotary club, said: “The River Authority have said the River Wissey is too waterlogged so we’ve had to change the date to August.”

This means there is even more time to sign yourself and your team up for a spot at the races, though.

The contest, hosted by BBC Radio Norfolk’s Wally Webb, will start at 1pm in aid of Nelson’s Journey and Sue Ryder.

The annual duck race will also be held on the same day.

To register your team, visit Hilgay’s Dent’s Butchers or call on 01366387686.
