Heat 6 of this year’s Battle of the Bands is being staged at Downham Market Club on Saturday, with four more groups preparing to “do battle”.

Triston Finnis, of Twisted Melon Productions, says: “Downham Market is well known for it’s classic rock fans. With that in mind we are giving the town a classic rock fest!

“This Saturday’s Battle Of the Bands heads to the Downham Market Club for Heat 6 with a line up as strong as any we’ve seen in recent years.

“Again we have acts from all over East Anglia competing for KL.FM airplay and ultimately a slot at this summer’s Festival Too. The event kicks off at 8pm with all ages welcome and free entry.”

Here are the four bands in the line-up:

ALTER THE SKY. This is a five-piece female-fronted rock band from Cambridge with catchy riffs, heavy beats and hard hitting vocals. The band are Kirsten Roche, vocals; Kev Baker, guitar; Gal Herrington, guitar; Matt Scott, bass; and Arron Peters, drums.

Powderhead

Powderhead

Alter The Sky take their influences from the likes of Black Stone Cherry, The Wildhearts, Alterbridge, Guns n Roses and AC/DC.

POWDERHEAD. “It’s loud. It’s dirty! It smashes you over the head!” – heavy classic rock at its best! Powderhead are a new face on a classic scene, belting out raw, old-school rock that will get your head banging, your body moving and leave you screaming for more!

This Cambridge band began in February 2015 fuelled by guitarists Si Mortlock and Jose Solar and vocalist Helen Johnson’s mutual interest in 80s and 90s rock and metal. But it wasn’t until December 2015, when drummer Ollie Rose and bassist James Miller joined, that things really kicked off.

With Ollie’s energetic, thrash inspired beats and Miller’s no nonsense, stoner rock minded bass lines, the band’s unique style of heavy classic rock emerged.

Powerhouse

Following the release of their self titled debut EP in May 2016, the band continue to write new material for their anticipated debut album, due to be released in late 2017, and have a string of gigs lined up to showcase their head-banging rock to audiences around the UK.

POWERHOUSE. This is a Norfolk-based rock and blues cover band. The band plays a wide selection of your favourite songs from early rock and roll all the way up to modern hard rock. They deliver a high energy show every time with Damion Doggett on pounding drums, Andy Leeder on ringing bass and Chris Preece on screaming vocals and lead guitar.

Together they form a mighty rock machine. With a reputation for high energy performance, classic singalong tunes and a fun show, look for them coming to your local soon. Powerhouse take their influences from the likes of AC/DC, Guns n Roses, Green Day, Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Judas Priest.

VULPES. Returning to BOTB this year after bowing out at the semi-final stage in 2016 are Vulpes, a four-piece grunge band from Norfolk. Formed in November 2015, the band consists of Will Penney, lead vocals and rhythm guitar; Chris Wright, lead guitar; Sam Drake, bass; and Shaun English, drums.

Last year the band gigged hard, this year they hit the studio and have just released their brand new 4-track EP ‘Worst Version Of Myself’.

Vulpes influences include Nirvana, Queens of the Stoneage, Soundgarden, Band of Skulls and Royal Blood. They have been described by BBC Introducing as having “a passion for big rock and roll sound”.
