The popular Holkham Country Fair is set to return to North Norfolk this weekend with preparations well under way for the two-day event and organisers advising visitors to purchase tickets in advance to beat the queues.
Held in the beautiful grounds of Holkham Estate, Holkham Country Fair will welcome thousands of visitors and 150 trade, fine food and craft stands.
Giving visitors a flavour of what to expect over the weekend, the Grand Ring schedule is set to draw in the crowds. Kicking off a weekend packed full of exciting entertainment is the opening ceremony, scheduled for noon on Saturday, with a parachute display team showing off their mid-air acrobatics. This will be followed by the unforgettable Gulliver’s Carnival providing a spectacle as they display dare-devil stunts on Spanish horses.
Favourite acts making a welcome return to the Grand Ring, includes the popular CJ’s Birds of Prey, British Scurry and Trials Driving, Hound Parade and the Aerobatics Display. And brand new for 2015 are great acts such as the Royal Anglian Band and The Dog and Duck Show – herding unruly ducks!
Another highlight on Sunday at 2.45pm is the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flypast by a Douglas C47 Dakota, a fitting tribute to the important role the plane played in World War Two.
With lots of activities blending the best of countryside traditions and family fun, there is something for the whole family including:
Try your hand at British country pursuits including clay pigeon shooting, fishing and crossbows
Enjoy traditional fairground rides, Donkey Rides, a Bouncy Castle and an Gentle ‘Old Tyme’ carousel
Watch the gundog test team and The Sheep Show – a mixture of rural education and entertainment!
With a fantastic variety of trade stands, visitors will be spoilt for choice and when it is time to stop for a bite to eat, this year’s Fine Food Village, sponsored by Norfolk’s award- winning brewery Woodfordes, will be showcasing plenty of delicious local produce including the East Coast Chilli Company, Perfick Pork, Bon Bakery, J E Howard butchers and Norfolk Brewhouse.
