A landscape painter is staging his first Norfolk exhibition in Great Bircham next week, with a collection of paintings and photography exploring the rugged, open beauty of the Norfolk coast.

Frank Gray has exhibited his works across the country and originally he was better known before for his non-figurative paintings which usually feature water.

But since moving to the north Norfolk coast over a year ago, he has moved more towards photography.

He said: “I have no formal training in photography but, I am fortunate to know a few extremely gifted and original photographers, one of whom finally convinced me that it’s not the camera, it’s what you see.

“What I see on the beach, I want to keep – the proximity, the vista, the emotion, the symbolism, the meaning, the fantasy – all of it.”

Running over November 6-7, open both days from 10.30am, at 4 Church Farm Barns, the exhibition will also include a wine tasting at the first night at 6.30pm.

Mr Gray is also married to Debbie Gray, a British film producer, who is currently riding high with the release of the new film, Northern Soul.
