Seasonal celebrations continue this weekend at Holkham Hall with two special performances by a visiting theatre troupe of Victorian classic Great Expectations.
This story of wealth, poverty, love, rejection and conflict is one of the most popular classics of English literature and an enduring tale that has delighted audiences for over 150 years.
Now families can enjoy a festive theatre treat thanks to the Rain or Shine Theatre Company bringing their own brand of Christmas magic to the stage, with a new adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel.
With a cast of five playing a host of characters and with surprises throughout, the performance will delight and enchant families new to the classic tale and those who already know it.
The story tells of Pip, a young orphan growing to adulthood, whose expectations are shaped by a number of colourful and curious characters.
His future is formed and fortune made by a mysterious benefactor – could it be an escaped convict he meets on Christmas Eve, or perhaps Joe Gargery the kindly blacksmith, Miss Havisham the eternal bride, or uncompromising lawyer, Mr Jaggers?
The performance is suitable for ages seven and above and will be performed in the Marble Hall at Holkham on December 20 and 21 at 7pm.
Tickets include a glass of wine or a soft drink and a mince pie in the interval, but are now sold out online with a limited number available from the ticket office.
