Piles of tasty marshmallows were on offer at Hunstanton’s 1st Scout Group headquarters last week – but no one was
allowed to eat them.
They were part of Hunstanton Festival Players’ Chubby Bunny Challenge to publicise this year’s pantomime, The Princess and the Pea. The challenge was to see who could, without swallowing, hold the most marshmallows in their mouth and still stay “I am the Princess”.
The 1st Hunstanton Cubs entered the challenge with enthusiasm – and varying amounts of success – under the watchful eye of panto villain, John Wrigley.
By the end of the evening the record stood at thirteen marshmallows.
It was all videoed and will appear on You Tube where previous videos of the Players’ work has already had two thousand hits.
The first to take up the Chubby Bunny Challenge had been the cast themselves some days previously.
Last week it was the Cubs’ turn and this week the cast will take on staff at the town’s Tesco supermarket.
“We decided this was the best way to publicise our pantomime within the community,” said Mr Wrigley.
“We were only too delighted to help with the Festival Players challenge,” said Cub leader, Lesley Doherty. “The Cubs thoroughly enjoyed the evening.”
The Princess and the Pea will be staged at Hunstanton Town Hall with seven performances from December 27-31. For ticket details, call Hunstanton TIC on 01485 532610, or from Cherry Tree Chocolates in Hunstanton High Street.
