A Lynn family’s band is playing gigs at two of the highest points in England within 24 hours next month in a fundraising challenge.

Jimmy Rockit, a pop-covers band, will play an acoustic gig on Scafell Pike before giving a full set at the Tan Hill Inn, England’s highest pub.

Brothers, Zach Stanford, 22, Harrison Stanford, 19, and Frazer Stanford, 15, and their cousin Bradley Carr, 20, are raising funds for their drummer, Frazer, to go to Tanzania next summer.

While over there, he will join a month-long volunteering project to help improve education and take part in conservation activities.

Frazer said: “Tanzania will not be a holiday. I will live in a rural community and work on important social and cultural projects, including important forest regeneration projects, to help improve the lives of local people.

“We were looking to do something really unique to raise money for my trip to Africa. We are all keen hill walkers and have done several Wainwrights including Scafell Pike and have been playing in bands together for nine years, so it was a natural thing to put the two together and do something that we don’t think anyone has ever done before!”

The band plan to camp in Borrowdale on June 27 and make an early start on England’s highest mountain the following morning when they will carry their instruments to the summit with a team of family and friends.

The Scafell Pike summit gig is planned for noon, with a live stream via the band’s website – The band will then set off for the Tan Hill Inn in North Yorkshire to do the second gig of the day from 10pm.

If weather prevents the band from performing on Scafell Pike, Jimmy Rockit will be playing the four highest pubs in England in one day. They will start at The Traveller’s Rest, Derbyshire, at noon, Cheshire’s Cat and Fiddle at 1.45pm, The Kirkstone Pass Inn, in Cumbria, at 6.15pm, finishing at the Tan Hill Inn, in North Yorkshire, at 10pm.
