A new book on Lynn’s fascinating history is to be launched next week – and it is a little different.
King’s Lynn History Tour is a unique guide to the captivating past of the town and local author Dr Paul Richards guides the reader through its historical streets and shows how Lynn’s many famous landmarks and hidden-away gems have transformed over time.
With the help of a location map, readers on this tour can discover for themselves the changing face of Lynn.
This is a follow up from “King’s Lynn Through Time” by Dr Richards which was published in 2014 using some of the photographs from True’s Yard remarkable collection.
The book has 50 illustrations in its 96 pages and is the latest title in Amberley Publishing’s “History Tour” series. Its handy pocket size means that readers can take it with them as they visit the town’s historical landmarks and locations.
The History Tour is priced at £6.99 and will be officially launched at True’s Yard Fisherfolk Museum next Wednesday – where you can purchase copies of the book on or after that date.
Dr Richards, born and bred in the town, taught in further and higher education at the College of West Anglia. He has also been a part-time tutor for the WEA, Open University and university extra departments.
Among his previous books was his History of King’s Lynn which was published in 1990 and he has also written articles on local and regional history for various publications.
A former borough mayor, Dr Richards is a trustee of True’s Yard Fisherfolk Museum, a town guide and a member of the King’s Lynn Festival board.
