There’s a mid-week date for Heat 5 of Battle of the Bands 2017 which is being staged at Dr Thirsty’s in Lynn. Make a date for next Thursday, March 16, starting at 7.30pm, when four more bands will be hoping to take a step closer to the finals.

Triston Finnis, of Twisted Melon, said: “Acts will be travelling from Essex, Cambridge, March and Norwich to perform. The heat will be heavy but the talent arguably the strongest so far.

“To celebrate hosting a BOTB heat DT’s are looking after live music fans by offering £2.50 drinks which includes all pints, selected spirits (with mixers) and selected bottles all night. And if that’s not enough the DJ following the live music is Mark Malle playing all the latest house, dance and RnB ‘til late!”

Here are the four groups who will be taking to the stage:

SYNTHETIC BLEACH BYPASS. The band was formed in the fall of 2014 and their debut album ‘Here Lies The Truth’ was self-released in March 2016 and features two of the most well-established figures in the heavy metal scene.

Ettore Rigottiof DisarmoniaMundi is behind the mixing and mastering of the album as well as in the co-production of vocals. Dirk Verbeuren, who at the time was a permanent member of the mighty Soilwork and currently the drummer of metal icons Megadeth, features on the song ‘Hollow’. The media often pick up on Synthetic’s melodic death metal roots, but there is much more to the band’s sound which incorporates classic British and American heavy metal as well as Progressive rock.

Synthetic has its base in Cambridge, home of the legendary Pink Floyd. The band is the epitome of multiculturalism with members originating from Greece, the UK and the USA, all bringing different aspects and influences to the final sound and musical direction.

A FEW TOO MANY. Anthemic pop punk band from East Anglia. Five anything but ordinary guys with a love for pizza, partying and puns. In live shows the band blends energy and showmanship with memorable vocal harmonies and engaging stage/audience banter. Their debut album ‘Lessons Learned’ is to be released in 2017. Highly influenced by 90’s/2000’s classic pop punk/rock.

DAMAGED. This is a four-piece hardcore punk band from March in Cambridgeshire with crazy energy and fast paced songs.

They are Luc Sweetman, vocals; Tweek on drums; Aston Brooks, lead guitar; and Dan Tait, bass guitar.

City of Stories

Their influences include Black Flag, Rise Against, NOFX, Rise Against, Finch, Cancer Bats, Gallows, Exploited, Operation Ivy, Minor Threat, Rancid, GBH and Sick of it all

CITY OF STORIES. Based in Norwich, City of Stories is a pop punk band made up of three members whose love for energetic music and convictions for a hard work ethic brought them together. Using powerful riffs and lyrical theme choices, they deliver their own take on the pop punk genre… simply by throwing a bunch of their own influences in a blender.

There’s Chay Evans on guitar, Helen Bloomfield on drums and Robert Bolton on bass, sharing the role of vocals.

They will be playing some covers you’ll know and love and new originals to set their sound out from the rest.
