King’s Lynn’s Vocal Hub welcomes singers of the future at open day

Have your say

A new Lynn project for budding singers saw a great response at its Open Day on Sunday, with several aspiring pop stars signing up for lessons.

Vocal Hub offers expert training in singing, vocal warm-ups and recording thanks to Gary Leonard, an experienced vocalist and touring musician with many years of training as a vocal coach.

He said: “Although the beautiful weather undoubtedly meant numbers were low, it was an excellent day and I am really pleased with the response we had.

“It was a great opportunity to show people what we have on offer here and several visitors have already booked lessons.”

Previously known as the King’s Lynn School of Rock and Pop, the centre opened in 2011 and currently has around 45 students who use their own recording booth and 28-seat performance space.

Many of the students are given audition support for music colleges including BIMM and Tech Music, while others have been supported through the Open Mic UK competition and some have achieved qualifications.

Gary added: “I am now looking forward to Saturday when I will be taking six of my students to the British Legion branch in King’s Lynn to perform for British Armed Forces Day.”
