Young musicians will have a special opportunity to learn from the best at a wind band workshop which is to be held at Springwood High School next month.
West Norfolk Jubilee Youth Orchestra have organised the event, which will be run by Ewan Easton, the principal tuba for the prestigious Hallé Orchestra. It will take place on Sunday, February 16.
Over the past 30 years, Ewan has played all around the world with other well-known orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra.
His dedication to music, enthusiasm and passion for performing led to him being recognised in 2010 with an MBE, presented by the Queen.
Ewan is also committed to motivating young musicians to perform a vast array of music, travelling around the country to lead workshops with youngsters and inspire the musicians of the future.
Youngsters will have the opportunity to take part in a workshop that is open to all woodwind, brass and percussion players under 21.
It costs £15 for non-West Norfolk Jubilee Youth Orchestra members, but will be fully refunded for any players joining after the workshop.
There is no charge for WNJYO members.
Participants need to bring lunch but refreshments will be provided.
The workshop will start at 10.30am and will run until 4.30pm, with a small concert taking place to end the workshop and perform the days’ work to parents and tutors.
