A recent charity night saw a great many people turn up to Knights Hill Hotel in Lynn to watch some bands, and more importantly, to raise some money for Rosedale Children’s Home here in King’s Lynn.
The willingness of local musicians to get involved in things like this is something that never ceases to amaze me.
As well as the music, there was also a raffle and later on in the evening an impromptu auction of a “gig in your garden” which went down well. The musicians on the bill came in the shape of Jessie’s Ghost, who played two sets, as well as Phoebe & Jay, Pirate Joe and Sacred Nations. It was a great mix of acts, and each was thoroughly entertaining.
The children’s home is a long term facility for vulnerable children, providing somewhere that they can feel safe. With government funding being cut across a lot of the health and welfare services, charitable donations are an important source of income to help them keep going.
The event was very well attended, in fact it wasn’t far off being sold out, and over the course of the evening the amount raised for the charity was just shy of £5,000, which I’m sure you’ll agree is an amazing achievement. Good music for a good cause, what’s not to like? All of the staff at the home are very grateful to everyone that was able to contribute to the evening’s success. Who knows? Maybe they’ll do it all again as it went down so well this time.
