“Semi-final 2 promises to be an equally exciting event with this diverse set of acts all of the highest standard.
“You the public have already played a big part by casting your votes for the act you’d like to see at this year’s Festival Too.
“KL.FM 96.7’s voting poll, as usual, had an incredible response with semi-final two’s acts finishing in the following order: Event Horizon; Chest Of Pogs; Among The Citizens; Vulpes; Finding Ana; Simon Benefer.
“This result will be added to the judges’ scores on the day to give is our final set of acts for the six-act final.
“Don’t miss this amazing day of live entertainment for all the family. The first act takes to the stage at the slightly earlier time than usual of 3pm.”
Here’s a rundown of the acts performing:
SIMON BENEFER (rep Palmers Ale House & Kitchen)
Simon is well known within the local scene performing with bands Jessie’s Ghost and Kingdom Keys.
This extremely accomplished musician and music tutor has recently started performing solo and covers artists such as Simon & Garfunkel, Ed Sheeran and James Bay. Simon progressed from a heat containing one of the most talented young singer/songwriters in the area as well as two full rock bands, making him a real dark horse in this competition.
CHEST OF POGS (rep Terrington King William)
Chest Of Pogs are Tom Watson (vocals), Ross Woodhouse (rhythm guitar/backing vocals), Scott Hunter (lead guitar/rhythm guitar/backing vocals), Niall Jacka (bass) and Jamie Nuttall (drums). Formed in October 2010 as an idea designed to satisfy Tom’s desire to be in a band, which his friends indulged him with, but since then its been nothing but good times. The original line-up changed, Niall replacing Liam on bass and Scott eventually replacing Adam on lead guitar after a few months playing with deps – but the idea remained the same… to entertain!
AMONG THE CITIZENS (rep Watlington Sports & Social Club)
Among The Citizens are John Gooding (guitar/lead vocal, Ollie Green (bass/backing vocal, Christy Hoyles (lead guitar/backing vocal) and James McGonigle (drums/backing vocal).
The lads are a new four-piece Indie alternative band aged between 16-17 from the Peterborough area. Their musical influences are mainly based on their favorite bands such as The Arctic Monkeys, The 1975, Swim Deep, The White Stripes and many more.
VULPES (representing Chicago’s, King’s Lynn)
Vulpes are arguably the heaviest act left in the competition. They are a four-piece grunge band from Norfolk. Formed in November 2015, they have been hard at work in the studio recording their first EP.
The band consists of Will Penney (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Chris Wright (lead guitar), Sam Drake (bass) and Shaun English (drums). Vulpes’ influences include Nirvana, Queens of the Stoneage, Soundgarden, Band of Skulls and Royal Blood. Described by BBC Introducing as having “a passion for big rock and roll sound”.
FINDING ANA (representing Wildfowler, Gayton Road)
Finding Ana are Andrew Girling (rhythm guitar and lead vocals), Andy Webster (lead guitar and backing vocals), Dan Barnes (bass guitar) and Chris Argent (drums).
They are a four-piece alternative rock band from Cambridge. The guys also made it to this stage of the competition in 2015 just missing out on a place in the final.
They will be hoping to go all the way this year and this band’s amazing guitar work may be the key.
EVENT HORIZON (rep Downham Market Club)
Event Horizon are Ben (guitar and vox), Simon (bass and vox), Ryan (lead) and Rob (drums). An electrical engineer, welder/engineer, mortgage broker and chef by day and at night they play pop/punk with an indie influence! They were initially all in a indie cover band over 10 odd years ago called The Cult 45s and played loads of gigs all over the place for a few years. After a couple years away from music they’ve now gone full circle via many other bands, 100s of gigs, kids, marriages, the race track, Claud Butlers and just life in general and decided to give it one last hurrah!
Fusing main influences Blink 182, Gaslight Anthem, Alkaline Trio, Oasis and Arctic Monkeys creating an odd set of fast paced originals and covers that should get your feet tapping at the very least!
