A charity ball raised more than £5,000 for Cancer Research UK – and proved a brilliant night out into the bargain.
Around 130 people attended the event, which was held in a new marquee area at Lynn's Ramada Hotel on Saturday, June 7.

The event featured a three-course sit-down meal as well as entertainment including a table-top magician and five-piece band supplied through West Lynn-based Gemini Promotions.

Instead of a raffle there was a wishing tree. Those taking part paid £20 to pick a box off the tree which, containing a number, then corresponded with a prize, such as chocolates and champagne. There was also a charity auction.

The ball was organised by Miss Laura Seward, of Lynn, because a friend of hers was diagnosed with cancer last year. She was grateful to all those businesses, including Barclays Bank, which supported the event and donated prizes.
