Downham and Clackclose Conservative Club was the venue for the first birthday party of Downham-based Sluice Women.
Around 40 members attended the event, on Thursday, July 24.

"We started off with nine of us and currently have 63 members," said vice-Queen or vice-chairman Ros Turner.

The group organises fun social activities for women over 50 such as theatre trips and meals out.

It is affiliated to The Red Hat Society so members wear red hats and purple wherever they go!

The birthday was celebrated with a get-together, games, a quiz and cake.

Queen of the chapter is Mrs Jackie Murphy.
