August 2012: West Norfolk mayor Geoffrey Wareham cuts the ribbon to mark the official opening of a new multi-use games area in South Lynn. And it was promptly put to use with football and basketball tournaments and even a street dance lesson.
August 2012: Swaffham Town FC squad are pictured before they trounced Downham by 5-0 in a Thurlow Nunn Division One fixture. Joe Jackson (3) and Alex Vincent (2) got the goals. August 2012: This was the Downham Town FC team humbled 5-0 by Swaffham in that Thurlow Nunn local derby fixture. August 2004: These were the finalists in the Coronation Blocks bowls competition. On the left are the losing Globe trio of Terry Burke, Ken Rudd and Michael Cook, while on the right are the successful South Lynn trio of Chris Woodcock, Andy Sayer and Richard Bunton. South Lynn got off to a flying start and although the Globe fought back, South Lynn triumphed by 25 shots to 17.

August 2004: Hayley EA were the West Norfolk Cricket League’s 2004 KO Cup winners after a 9-wicket win over Grimston in the final. Steve Chapman and Simon Darlow had an unbroken partnership of 75 in 11 overs to win the game for Hayley after Grimston were restricted to 105-7. August 2012: A new signing for King’s Lynn Stars perhaps? No, this was club boss Buster Chapman in a Minnie Mouse costume completing a few laps of the track to mark the 20th anniversary since becoming the club owner.
August 2012: From left, Wendy Martell, Sue Crowdfoot, Kay Shambrook and Patricia Lowing show off their medals from the Race for Life. Patricia (69) had persuaded three regulars from her Gayton exercise class to take part in the 5K event at Houghton Hall and they raised £1,000 for Cancer Research.
August 2012: An estimated crowd of 2,000 saw Lynn Stars hold off a strong challenge from neighbours Peterborough Panthers to win the local derby by 46-44. Polish ace Mateusz Szczpaniak leads the Stars to a 4-2 race advantage in Heat 2.
