December 2014: Employees of Cornerways Nursery at British Sugar in Wissington, who successfully completed a course improving their English skills at Lynn’s College of West Anglia, proudly show off their certificates.
December 2014: The true spirit of Christmas was remembered by Hilgay Primary School youngsters and staff, who donated 70 shoeboxes filled with toys and gifts for disadvantaged children in Eastern Europe. This was in response to the Rotary Shoe Box Appeal and pictured here, from left, are Ben Pardoe, Warren Heatrick of Downham Rotary Club, Joely King, Sophie Wortley and school governor Kit Knight.
December 2013: Christmas came early for All Saints Church in East Winch when it got £193,800 of Heritage Lottery funding to help pay for urgent structural repairs. Celebrating are the Rev Jane Holmes and churchwardens Geoff Newton and Janet Weavers.
December 2013: Eight-year-old Joshua Cook, of Wretton, set himself the ambitious target of making a paper chain of 4,000 rings by Christmas Day. He was raising money for Cancer Research UK after his grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer the previous year.
December 2011: Santa joined in the fun before handing out presents at this toddlers’ Christmas party in Tilney St Lawrence. Carol Bouch, West Walton Children’s Centre manager, said: “The party was for families in our outreach areas as not everyone can get to the centre.”
December 2011: Mince pies and mulled wine were on offer at Wormegay and Tottenhill Over-60s Club’s Christmas party. The front centre spot was reserved for “birthday girl” 88-year-old Lillian Gore, whose birthday candles were one short!
December 2011: Puppet-making workshops were provided for pupils of Litcham High School as part of a new link with Lynn Arts Centre. Pictured here, from left, are Ella Hughes-Wade, Jess Brown, Hadia Badreldien, Cattie Close and Emily Hands.
December 2011: For years Rachel Glass called the children’s ward at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital her second home. She was a regular patient there from the age of two, suffering from chronic pancreatitis. Rachel, of Burnham Deepdale, showed her appreciation by giving staff members a home-made gift as thanks for the high standard of care.
