January 2014: Celebration time for Shouldham’s “Save Our King’s Arms” campaign leaders as they finally received the keys to the building after months of hard work. Villagers raised £150,000 by selling shares and the committee was finalising plans to refurbish the pub with a view to reopening in the spring. January 2014: Clenchwarton couple Tony and Rosemary Fox raised £375 through a display of Christmas lights outside their home. Rosemary (left), the Gayton Ward clerk and Tony handed over the bumper-size cheque to ward sister Sara Parr (second left) and play specialist Kelly Hodgson.
January 2014: Leziate Village Hall committee members Debbie Ess (right, the secretary) and Pauline Pullum (chairman) were looking pleased after grants were awarded of £48,000 to refurbish the hall with new facilities such as a kitchen toilets and heating.

January 2014: On their way down the Yellow Brick Road to Emerald City in the land of Oz are, from left Scarecrow (Robert Kilbourn), Cowardly Lion (Phil Lines), Dorothy (Helen Hawkes) and the Tin Woodman (Harry Studd). This was a dress rehearsal by the Creakes Drama Group ahead of a special production of The Wizard of Oz.
January 2014: Children from Ten Mile Bank and Hilgay Primary Schools were treated to watching world champion BMX rider Mike Mullen in action – as part of a “Be the Best You Can” initiative as part of the 2012 Olympic Legacy.
January 2014: A team of dedicated volunteers were awarded the Royal British Legion’s prestigious Coltishall Cup for their hard work in restoring Dersingham War Memorial. Holding the cup is Kurtis Ross-Green, joined by John Houston and Valerie Brundle (who is holding a letter from a Lady in Waiting to the Queen). The award for Best Kept War Memorial was presented at the charity’s annual Norfolk conference.
January 2014: Heacham Parish Church was looking forward to double centenary celebrations – with the First World War commemorations coinciding with the 100th birthday of the church organ, which had been commissioned in 1914. Church organist Adrian Flower is seated at the keyboard.
January 2014: Peter Thorpe, farm manager for the Stradsett Estate, and his wife Jane, who lost their daughter Becky in 2010 when she was shot dead at the Compasses pub in Snettisham, were the latest people to back the Lynn News’ Help Our Hospice appeal. They decided on a charity bingo for the hospice as that was a cause Becky herself had supported.
January 2018: Hollywood film producer Callum Greene was a special guest at Holly Meadows School in Pott Row, talking about film production and sharing insights into the industry to Years 5 and 6. He is joined by class teacher Amy Harvey (front) and teaching assistants Lisa Hutchinson (back left) and Kim Staff.
