January 2014: Floodsense, the Swaffham flood relief firm based in Bear’s Lane, was overwhelmed by the demand for help following a wave of storms and tidal surges that had been battering the UK. Managing director Kevin Williams (pictured) said his staff had been busy along the Norfolk coast and in the south west as people came to terms with the damage caused by the weather.
January 2014: A string of successful contracts gained by building contractors E N Suiter resulted in a change of premises from Lynn’s North Everard Street to the North Lynn Industrial Estate. January 2014: On stepping down from a career on the buses, former Norfolk Green managing director Ben Colson had a surprise at his retirement lunch – a bus named after him. Ben bought the firm in 1996 and took it from a force of three buses to 70.
January 2014: A ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of Pace Fuelcare’s new £1.5million depot in Estuary Road, Lynn. January 2014: Mill House Veterinary Surgery in Lynn, celebrated its 30th birthday. It was first established by David and Carol Clarke in King Street in January 1984, before moving to Tennyson Avenue six years later. The couple are pictured front centre with just some of the 32-strong staff.
January 2014: The Swaffham-based Kitfix Swallow Group Ltd (KSG) recruited a new in-house creative director, Norman Pearce, and marketing manager Clare Britton to its team to continue expansion of its markets.
January 2014: Accountancy firm Steve Pye and Co, with offices in Lynn, Hunstanton, Burnham Market and Spalding, were so impressed with their first car from Duff Morgan Citroën on the North Lynn estate they ended up acquiring a fleet of six. January 2018: SW Norfolk MP Elizabeth Truss was a special guest to meet the new owners of Downham Railway Station’s Platform One café. January 2018: Raising a glass to The Bell Inn at Denver are, from left, waitress Amy Moulder, chef John Burton and front of house manager Jasmine Kenna. The pub had been taken over by business partners Brendan Morgan – who ran The Swan Hotel in Downham with his wife Nikki – and James Armitage a businessman who lived in Denver. The Bell had reopened for business the previous November and this was the launch of the new-look restaurant.
January 2012: A new year and a new start for The Filling Station in Norfolk Street, Lynn. Maria Hooker and her team had spent 17 years at a takeaway unit before spending nearly £40,000 transforming the former Great Presents site into a café and takeaway.
