All Our Yesterdays: Summertime fun in Downham Market, Heacham, Home, Hunstanton, King’s Lynn and Terrington St Clement

August 2004: Heacham Twirlers showed budding baton twirlers some moves at a majorette workshop at Heacham Public Hall as part of the parish council’s summer activities programme.
August 2004: The birth of rock ‘n’ roll was celebrated with a special summer review at Hunstanton Town Hall featuring youngsters from the Lavender Hill Mob, pictured here getting ready to rock the audience with a medley of Elvis Presley hits as well as songs from the ‘60s.
August 2004: Downham let its hair down for a special party in the town centre to mark the switch-on of the town clock chimes. In this picture, Downham Town Mayor Pat Roberts congratulates the Lynn News competition winner Josephine Hall, from St Germans, who had the honour of flicking the switch to start the clock chimes.
August 2012: Twenty teams put their best oar forward for the annual Downham Market Water Festival on the Great Ouse Relief Channel. Mor than 4,000 people were drawn by the sound of drums as fearsome dragon boats battled it out for victory, including the Cornerway Nursery team Green Dragons – who eventually finished as runners-up.
August 2012: Members of the 1st Terrington Guide Group popped on their pinnies and baked sweet treats to raise £281 for Breast Cancer Care. They invited sweet-toothed parents, friends and nearby residents to a strawberry tea party, held at the Scout and Guide HQ in Terrington St Clement.
August 2012: Hundreds of people turned out to celebrate another colourful Heacham Village Carnival Parade. The carnival procession included the Norfolk Lavender float, pictured here, with Lavender Queen Millie Jose joined by her princesses Poppy Jose, Jessica Parish and Hannah Stafford.
August 2015: Bike enthusiasts took over Lynn’s Tuesday Market Place when the town’s first scooter and motorbike show was held. The “Mods and Rockers Scooter and Motorbike Meet” was organised by West Norfolk Council and the cabinet member for culture, heritage and health, Elizabeth Nockolds, second from left at the back, is pictured with winners of each of the categories.
August 2015: Businesses from around Lynn showed off their football skills during the third Vancouver Quarter Business Challenge held on Baxter’s Plain. Six teams – pictured here – took part in a Beat the Goalie competition, with Ward Gethin Archer emerging as champions after beating Primark in the grand final.
August 2015: The rector of St Mary’s Church, Holme-next-the-Sea, Susan Bowden-Pickstock, tries her hand at a game of dice during the popular fete at the village which raised thousands for the church. She is watched by, from left, Daniel Fitzgerald, Len Collins and Alan Bays.
