All Our Yesterdays: Taking a look back at news and views in King’s Lynn, Castle Rising, Hunstanton and Northwold




In this week’s All Our Yesterday’s feature, we take a look back at news and views throughout the years…

June 2013: Children from eight West Norfolk primary schools took part in a concert at Lynn’s St Nicholas Chapel to showcase their musical talents. Around 140 took part, performing to an audience of 800 for the hour-long concert.

June 2014: An open day by the newly-launched Vocal Hub at Lynn – previously known as the Lynn School of Rock and Pop – saw aspiring pop stars signing up … including Sharon Clifton, pictured here.

June 2014: Around 300 supporters of Macmillan Cancer Care flocked to the grounds of Castle Rising Castle for a fundraising evening of live jazz, including a performance by tenor saxophone player Catherine Brook.

June 2014: Evacuees, land girls and pilots were among the groupsrepresented as children from North Wootton Community School donned costumes and sang wartime songs during a visit to the Amberley Hall care home in Gaywood. This was one of many events held in West Norfolk to mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

June 2014: The BBC’s popular Question Time programme returned to Lynn Corn Exchange just over two years after its last visit to the venue. Here is the panel line-up, from left, Chris Bryant (Labour shadow minister), Tessa Munt (Liberal Democrat MP), Ian Hislop (Private Eye editor), veteran chairman David Dimbleby, Salma Yacoob (Birmingham schools campaigner) and Iain Duncan Smith (Conservative minister for Work and Pensions).

June 2014: Marham Military Wives choir gave a concert at a social event held by the British Legion’s Middleton Branch. This was held at the William Burt centre in West Winch and was one of many events across West Norfolk ahead of Armed Forces Day.

June 2010: Tribute band Abba Revival entertain the crowds on Kings Staithe Square, Lynn, at the launch of the 25th anniversary of Festival Too.

June 2014: Meet the fashion icons and the legends of the ‘60s. This flashback to the days of hippies and flower power was a smash hit at Northwold Carnival.
