Avengers: Endgame is set to smash all box office records – and the Majestic Cinema in King’s Lynn followed this trend.
Both the special midnight curtain-raising screening from last Wednesday into Thursday and the weekend programme were sellouts of the three-hour Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster.
"It was absolutely manic," said assistant manager Lucy Curgenven of the much-awaited conclusion to this phase of the saga featuring Captain America, Thor, Iron Man and the rest against arch-villain Thanos.
Some 2,600 super-hero fans attended the ten sold-out Majestic weekend showings of the Disney hit.
Its $1.2 billion worldwide opening weekend is the biggest in movie history.
Avengers: Endgame' is already roughly $4 million behind Iron Man 3, which sits in the number 17 spot on the all-time worldwide box office charts.
Figures vary, but Gone with the Wind from 1939 is generally considered to be the most successful film of all time, with Guinness World Records estimating its adjusted global gross at $3.7 billion.
