Blue sky thinking or pie in the sky
We are all for blue sky thinking from our councillors but the suggestion of a transporter bridge across the Ouse (Lynn News, October 22) is pie in the sky.
The ferry is part of the public highway and it will need an Act of Parliament to close it. The borough council should be supporting the ferry much more and appreciate what a wonderful asset this is to the town.
It has been in existence for at least 800 years and is a proper working ferry, taking people across the Ouse for work and shopping as well as giving visitors a great experience of being able to see the waterfront from the West side. The ferrymen work extremely hard and provide an essential service to the town, long may it continue. It is the only park-and-ride service King’s Lynn has.
