Our lives are full of highs and lows

Well it has been a week of highs and lows. The highs have been mostly cholesterol related.

I had a conversation with the cardiac specialist who called me up to say I need to look at my diet as my rating was 6.9 and it needs to be under five.

It seems that creme eggs and salted peanuts are no longer the way forward for me.

The lows related to feeling rather smug saying I have not had any alcohol for six years and that I don’t smoke. So low alcohol equals gold star for me.

But apart from that I do need to change my dietary choices and do a bit more exercise.

My downfall with my diet is salt really but I also need to cut out saturated fat.

So that’s my favourite crisps out the window.

Must try harder.

In other news I had a delightful afternoon watching the Norfolk Symphony Orchestra performing Northern Lights at the Alive Corn Exchange.

Do read Andy Tyler’s reviews of some shows, including this one, in the What’s On section in today’s Lynn News.

Going along to something like this is out of my comfort zone, as I am not a major fan of classical concerts.

However, a woman can change her mind and it was really great, sending tingles down my spine as the orchestra played.

The most exciting bit, that I remember, is the outfit I wore to a hen party the night before could be Febreezed and worn again to the concert with a different bag and shoes to suit the occasion.

Yes, this is how shallow I am.

Actually there is nothing quite like an orchestra playing live and the moments that are beautifully controlled by the conductor.

I even clapped in the right places like a good girl.

How embarrassing, and what a social faux pas, to clap loudly when nobody else does, straight after a quiet bit.

Phew, lucky escape.

It was a really nice way to spend an afternoon on Mothering Sunday.

Now that spring is on its way and with more daylight there are more opportunities to get out and do things.

Or stay in and eat crisps.

Whatever floats your boat as my colleague Molly Nicholas may say.

The next item on my agenda is to learn to ride my motorbike. Some may feel it is the wrong way round to buy a bike before knowing how to ride it but I feel I will get the hang of it in no time.

My ever-so-patient-partner will be teaching me, so what could possibly go wrong apart from me falling off.

Riding a bike is like a good diet. I just need some balance.
