Feature: A strange year as Festival fails to grace King's Lynn after 70 years




People had anticipated another quality programme of music and the arts to celebrate the 70th King’s Lynn Festival in July 2020, writes local historian Dr Paul Richards.

Then the arrival of the coronavirus epidemic changed the world as we knew it and all England’s summer festivals were cancelled.

Since 1951, the festival hallmark has been its setting in the town’s glorious historic buildings, with artists of international standing performing in them.
