It was a very different world ten years ago. Many of Britain’s cities were affected by riots and I remember that, while at Gigg Lane watching Bury play Coventry City, hearing that the trams and buses into Manchester were cancelled due to unrest.

The Conservative/Liberal coalition government was in its second year and the referendums on Scottish Independence and Brexit were well in the future. Minecraft was released, Prince William married Kate Middleton and the Harry Potter films reached their conclusion.

Over the next decade we would experience floods and heatwaves, infections and shortages until we reach the present day where we are contemplating another lockdown while dealing with high prices, shortages, unfilled jobs, increasing inflation and environmental issues.
