King’s Lynn Beake Speaks Lynn News’ reporter Jenny Beake visits Watatunga Wildlife Reserve in Watlington

The weeks have certainly whizzed by in recent times. In fact we are nearly half way until Christmas.

There I did it again, I said it out loud.

But it feels a world away particularly with this hot weather.

Today's feature about Watatunga Wildlife Reserve was a fun experience and I highly recommend going to the hidden gem at Watlington.

The buggy tour in the sun catapults you into another world and it is on the doorstep in Watlington.

In fact I felt I was in Australia again because it was so hot.

And possibly as my newly acquired beanie hat with corks had Australia written on it

Ask the universe and the universe will provide. I knew I was going to be visiting the reserve and felt a hat with corks would be an ideal sartorial decision.

As I said it out loud, something I do, sometimes to my detriment, let's not talk about me mentioning Christmas six months before the event, but as I suggested, there it appeared in front of me in the Cancer Research UK shop in Lynn.

I quickly purchased it at a reasonable price, no haggling, and glad I was as the weather has been scorching and it protected my neck and eyes from the sun.

Although those corks do get in the eyes so are possibly quite dangerous.

The wildlife reserve is worth a visit and I managed to get at least two jokes in.

One about a zebra crossing , the other about the difference between a buffalo and a bison.

You can't wash your hands in a buffalo, cheesy I know.

Anyway it is that time of year when the winter duvet gets changed over to the summer one and the summer clothes come down from the loft.

Covered in dust and smelling slightly musty, but hey, that’s the way I like them.

If you are a follower of Beake Speaks then you will know that the switch of the duvet is the highlight of my year.

Simple things.

A delightful evening was spent on the motorbike going over to see the Watlington Players and their production of the Vicar of Dibley.

The cast were really like the original actors and characters in the BBC sitcom and the gentle comedy is always a personal favourite of mine.

Of course Dawn French is a stalwart of the comedy scene and the actor who played her really resembled her with facial expressions and stage presence.

So it seems that Watlington is the place to be at the moment.

No, no, no, no, no yes it is.
