May 2000: A bouncy castle brought shrieks of delight from these youngsters enjoying the Heacham Weekend of Fun. The special celebration to mark the millennium was organised by the parish council and featured a range of entertainment for all ages.

May 2003: Grimston won the Lynn News Shield for primary schools, beating South Wootton in the final.

The competition, which started in 1981, saw 15 teams enter and was played on a knock-out basis. In this picture sports editor Peter Woodhouse presents the shield to Grimston captain Chez Rust, as players from both teams line up.

May 2003: Youngsters from Weasenham Primary School had a whale of a time raising money for the World Wildlife Fund.

Taking part in a sponsored swim at Fakenham Junior School, they were accompanied by an inflatable killer whale called Ollie the Orca. More than £200 was raised for WWF.

May 2003: It’s a jungle jamboree for children – and staff – at Necton Little Oaks Playgroup’s 30th birthday celebrations. Cuddly toy tigers and a monkey joined in the fun.

There was also a specially decorated birthday cake to mark the occasion.
