Lynn Motor Club revving up for classic car run

With one of the region's favourite classic car rallies back on the calendar this summer, is time for owners to wheel out their treasured vehicles and get behind the wheel again.

After being forced to cancel last year, King's Lynn Motor Club has got the green light to stage its 43rd annual run again, this time on Sunday, July 4.

The entry list is filling up but there is still room for more entries before the closing date of Thursday, June 17.

The event, which is again raising money for the Norfolk Accident Rescue Service, will start at Downham Home and Garden before heading into the Thetford area for lunch - or a picnic - at Lynford Hall Hotel.

The route will then take the drivers to Ickworth House, in Suffolk, a venue last visited by the rally in 1999.

Organiser, Adrian Cunnington, said: "Following some unprecedented times, KLDMC hopes we can again draw on the support received over many years from classic car owners across Norfolk and neighbouring counties. Our successful three venue format is retained for this event with an emphasis on driving our cars, enjoying the places we visit and sharing the day with other enthusiasts, all in a Covid-secure way with the help of our hosting venues.”

Main sponsor again is Anglia Car Auctions with other support from Ottoway Carpentry, of Dersingham, Bearts of Stow Bridge, Bennett & Co Estate Agents, King’s Lynn, and Steve Cato Classic Cars and Restoration of Tottenhill.

There will be classes for Veteran, Vintage and PVT (pre-1950); Historic Classic (1950-71); Post-Historic Classic (1972-87) and Modern Classic (1988-2006) and awards for best costume and car of the day.
