Twenty-one catering businesses from across West Norfolk were at Lynn Town Hall in April 1997 to receive Heartbeat Awards from borough mayor, Moss Evans.
The certificates recognised that the caterers had provided workforces with healthy, hygienic and wholesome food. The awards were jointly sponsored by North West Anglia Healthcare Trust, West Norfolk Council and West Norfolk Environmental Health Department.
Health Trust representative Ms R Brown said: “Here in West Norfolk local people are knowledgeable about healthy eating and are increasingly encouraging their employers to recognise that a healthy workforce makes economic sense.” MLNF-9704151

All Our Yesterdays deals with Lynn News lookback pictures: "good causes" is the theme this week.
In chronological order below are photos from the month of April in 2001 and 2006 – as shown in this week's (Tuesday, April 26) Lynn News – the captions are within each photo.
April 2001: Members of Swaffham and District Mental Health Association who ran a surplus materials recycling project were all smiles after receiving a £200 cheque from the Swaffham Business and Professional Women’s Club. In this picture the B&PW trio of (front from left) Bridget Dumbrell, Karen Nye and Joan Simmons present the cheque to the mental health association chairman Eddie Doran for the Scrapbox scheme. With them are other association members including manager Georgie Bell (centre). MLNF-0104247April 2001: The future for the beleaguered Gaywood Community Centre was looking brighter after Gaywood’s new Tesco pledged £8,000 for improvements. The cash was to be used to help repair the roof, paint and decorate the building, install floodlights and replace kitchen units. Fixing the roof was the main priority and here, brollies at the ready to keep the rain out, are members of the centre’s committee with Tesco branch manager Paul Savory. Front from left, Marie Black, Paul Savory, Ann Bolton; back from left, Mary Spinks, Linda Massingham, Peggy Spencer, Jo Wiseman, fundraising committee chairman Philip Anderson and Jan McQuade. MLNF-0104508April 2001: A cheque for £150 to Marie Curie Cancer Care was presented by Lynn members of the Marks & Spencer Retirement Association. The treasurer, Muriel Scarborough, is pictured presenting the cheque to Marie Curie nurse Anne Hill, and joined by fellow former staff members. The group chose Marie Curie as their fundraising charity as it had members who had died from cancer and also members whose husbands had received good care from the nurses. MLNF-0104301April 2006: RAF Marham’s First Response team members were overjoyed when mayor Trevor Manley chose the team as his official charity. With nearly £20,000 in the bank, that was enough money to purchase a new ambulance and equip the vehicle. In this picture Mr Manley presents a cheque to the team’s leader, Station Officer Justin Smith who is at the wheel of the new vehicle. MLNF-0604576April 2006: Two Downham sisters put their best feet forward to raise £2,000 for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity. Caroline Smythe and Shane Singleterry (both wearing the charity’s T-shirts) are pictured with supporters following an 11-mile sponsored walk which started at the Welney Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Centre and finished at Downham Town Hall. MLNF-0604374April 2006: Members of Hunstanton Royal British Legion branch set up a display at the town’s Golden Lion to show just where the Poppy Appeal money goes. It was all part of a fundraising effort at the resort which included local folk David Foulkes and Thomas Raines dressing up as Steptoe and Son in collecting cash, while Sue and John Bassett dressed in Arabic costume to sell raffle tickets.
